Gambit Yard studies problems that fall between conventional disciplines. Domains are selected by whether a real instrument can be built around the claim, not by whether the field is respectable. The register lists papers. This page maps the territory and states why these domains cohere.

AI Systems & Verifiable Agency

Making machine cognition legible.

ACTIVE BUILD

The problem of proving what an automated system did, believed, or committed to, at a standard that holds under adversarial and evidentiary pressure. As machine agents take irreversible actions, the gap between what a system reports and what can be shown about it becomes the load-bearing risk.

GOVERNING QUESTION

Can an agent's internal state be turned into an auditable, tamper-evident record without trusting the agent?

OPERATIVE CONSTRAINT

A system you cannot measure is a system you cannot certify. Verification must not require trusting the thing being verified.

Foundations of Physics: Time, Selection, Irreversibility

What time actually costs.

Operational theories of temporal passage, state-space pruning, and measurement as irreversible constraint. The work treats the arrow of time not as a given but as an accounting problem: what is spent when a possibility becomes an actuality, and whether that expenditure is what we experience as duration.

Is the passage of time reducible to the cost of selection among possibilities?

OPERATIVE CONSTRAINT

Selection is irreversible; irreversibility carries a thermodynamic price. Any account of temporal passage has to pay it, not assume it away.

Parametric Systems & Vacuum Instrumentation

Reading a signal out of the noise with the noise still in it.

Finite-time dynamical Casimir simulation, parametric amplification, Bogoliubov mode recovery, and Floquet-Mathieu stability structure, developed as one validated chain. The same mathematics recurs where it should not: across plasma boundaries, a class of deep-network training instabilities, and vacuum fluctuation. This domain holds the lab's one validated numerical testbed.

When does stored possibility become committed, measurable output?

OPERATIVE CONSTRAINT

A numerical result is not a result until convergence tests, analytic controls, and low-count error analysis agree. The testbed is validated before any physics is claimed.

Consciousness & Biological Coherence

The filter model, not the production model.

NO-GOSPECULATIVE

Upper-bound analysis on biological quantum coherence, optical collectivity in tryptophan networks, filter theories of consciousness from James forward, and falsifiable predictions distinguishing quantum-coherent from classical substrates in artificial systems.

The lab treats consciousness claims as an arena for bound-setting and falsification. It scores its no-go results here above its speculative ones, and makes no claim that any of these mechanisms is realized.

What evidence would actually distinguish a system that is conscious from one that only reports it?

OPERATIVE CONSTRAINT

Optical collectivity is not cognition. A proposed coherence mechanism has to clear its decoherence budget before it means anything.

Anomalous Signal Analysis & Foundational Models

Some states change under inspection.

SPECULATIVEUNKNOWN

Conservative constraint-extraction from disputed, observer-sensitive, and under-measured empirical corpora; channel-parameter estimation; decomposition of complex claims into testable dependencies and no-go bounds. This is where the lab is most careful and most easily misread.

Studying a corpus is not endorsing its claims. It is subjecting them to instruments they were never built to survive. No result in this domain is promoted above speculative without an instrument, a kill criterion, and a pre-registered prediction.

GOVERNING QUESTION

What can be learned when the observation process itself may alter the signal?

OPERATIVE CONSTRAINT

If discarding trials changes the result, the result is about the discarding, not about the world.

WHY THESE COHERE

The five domains are the same move made in five places. Take a question where the interesting claims are dismissed as untestable, decompose it until something can carry an instrument, build that instrument, and try to kill the result before anyone outside does. The subjects look unrelated. The method is one method.

Mystery is permitted. Unfalsifiability is not.
