The Boundary Is the Product
The most valuable section of the Yard's one verified result is the list of things it does not claim. A bounded claim can be audited; an unbounded one can only be admired or dismissed.
The most valuable section of the Yard's one verified result is not the result. It is the list of things the result does not claim. The Earth-Lightning Beacon produces a deterministic, reproducible digest from a public atmospheric event, validated across a reproducibility ladder. That is real, and it is bounded, and the boundary was written before the result was announced.
The boundary states what has not been shown. The stream has not been tested for statistical randomness. Its unpredictability is defeated by an adversary with the right downlink. It is a reproducible pipeline with a manifest, not a production service. Its coverage is one hemisphere, and each satellite is validated on its own, with no combined claim. None of that is hedging. Each line closes a door that a reader might otherwise have assumed was open.
A bounded claim can be audited. A reader can take each sentence and check it, and the checking terminates. An unbounded claim cannot be audited; it can only be admired or dismissed, and both responses are useless to the person trying to build on the work. The boundary is what makes the result usable by someone who was not in the room.
Writing the boundary first also disciplines the result. It is much harder to overstate a finding when you have already committed, in public, to the list of things it does not establish. The boundary is a precommitment against your own future enthusiasm and against the pressure, which is always present, to let a clean small result quietly grow into a large vague one.
This is why the Yard treats the boundary as the deliverable and the headline as the byproduct. Anyone can produce a confident claim. A precise statement of what you have not proven is rarer, harder to fake, and more expensive to write, which is exactly why it is worth more.
Sell the boundary. The result comes with it.
